I started this book because it was required for school. But I really enjoyed it. It was written clearly and flowed well. I finished it in one weekend. I learned a lot about the tough life of Frederick Douglas whack compared with even tougher lives of other people who were tortured as slaves. An eye opener. I was impressed with his ability to overcome adversity and be so successful.

Bought an "Acceptable" book and it was as described but before purchasing i asked to see photos. Although they said they did not have time to look through their inventory, it was disappointing that they could not even give consumers pictures of the actual item.

Great book- Frederick Douglass was an amazing man!! We used this for our 11th grade American Literature homeschool curriculum. Also found a wonderful free site on YouTube : LibriVox Audiobooks that reads this verbatim, we followed along with the book

As most slaves could not read or write, this is an amazing inside look at the evil and injustice of slavery. A candid, honestly penned viewpoint.
