This is one of the best TV westerns of the early TV era. Clayton Moore was the definitive masked man and Jay Silverheels the definitive Tonto. It is from an earlier, more innocent, naive time in which many of us grew up. That world may be unrecognizable today, but it is one many of us look back upon fondly. Those early movie and TV cowboys taught us a lot and I think most of us benefitted from it. This set includes the first two seasons. The third is not nearly as good because Moore was replaced by John Hart as the Lone Ranger, a disastrous decision. Moore was back for seasons 4 & 5 and those are available via streaming services; the final season is in color. There were also two feature length theatrical Lone Ranger movies released around the time the TV series ended, both excellent and in color: "The Lone Ranger" (1956) and "The Lone Ranger & the Lost City of Gold (1958), both starring Moore and Silverheels. Return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear - the Lone Ranger rides again!Read full review

Dear Anybody: This anniversary edition of the "Lone Ranger" is almost beyond compare. It is truly magnificent and great for children of all ages. Just don't let young hands take it apart or you may need to buy a second set. It contains all kinds of memorabilia related to Clayton Moore, Jay Silverheels and the history of the series from 1949 to 1957. The DVD recordings are for the first two seasons only which is perfectly satisfactory in Black and White. The following seasons were not as well written and could become somewhat repetitive overall. The only season in COLOR was produced in 1954 and is really hard to get unless you want to travel to the UK or Australia. The quality of the prints are very good and the DVD transfers are terrific! You just can't get a better rendition of the "Lone Ranger" out there that is currently available. This item would make a great gift to yourself or anyone who is a fan of the "Lone Ranger" whom you love. Read full review

I looked for something that would document the history of the "Lone Ranger" fir our grandson. My wife and I had bought him the Linoel Lone Ranger Wild West train set he wanted for Christmas. His interest for this set was because of the very old style steam engine. He knew nothing about the Lone Ranger as no channel carries the movies or TV series as re-runs. We give him one DVD each week, but he is patiently waiting for one that has train scenes. The price was very good on this set and I got to see the very first episode which I had not scene as a kid. Although these have a little violence, the morals are strong for Good over Evil and bad guys are arrested not killed. Far superior to the violent video games the youngsters are presented with today.
For anyone who grew up watching the Lone Ranger, this is a time machine taking you back to that wonderful era when "Hi-Yo, Silver, Away!" capped off another daring rescue by Kemosabe and Tonto. In under half an hour an episode, there's plenty of action with the good guys always winning in the end. For anyone wanting good escapist entertainment, these twelve DVD's will be just the ticket.
