This book is amazing! We knew Vietnam was bad, but we just didn't know how bad. This book details one soldier's actual account including how he felt when he killed his first enemy soldier. As the first grandchild of Joe "Mitch" Mitchell, I really enjoyed reading this book, especially since he never really spoke of his tour nor picked up a gun again until recently. My interest being my grandfather, I wished that there was more about him. I liked that there was a glossary and index in the back, but wish there were more military vocabulary words in the glossary. Other than that I LOVED this book! 5 out of 5 stars!
I was hesitant to order this 'Pathfinder' book because I was more interested in combat stories of that had served in Nam but I had witnessed these brave men do their job, so thought - you bet lets check it out. I was not disappointed as it was a very interesting view of what others did (to include some contact) to allow the combat soldiers to perform. I highly recommend this very interesting story to all.

I haven't finished book yet but so far is extraordinary reading, I've read many military service based books and this one rates right up in the top finds. I would have liked to have seen photos.

This is a great read for VN buffs. As I served in Nam 3 times, this book is quite factual. Being in first is not an easy job and it has to play on your nerves, not all military could be a Pathfinder. I knew an SFC who served with me on my third tour and he was one hell of a soldier. Many years later I met him he had retired as a CSM
I was in this Pathfinder Unit but didn't realize Rich wrote this book, a must have for me.Didn't realize he died from cancer. Very accurate MSG Joe Whaley Retired
