As of today I have printed about 20 pages. Doing ok so far. A few pages didn't print clearly, however I didn't run the entire printer set up and the ink cartridges could have been old or exposed to extreme temperatures.

This is a great, no-frills, no-fuss, basic printer for those of us that don't want to be screwed over by poor design quality that today's manufacturer's are implementing. This particular model lasts a very long some. The spot where the ink cartridges meet the print head is well designed, as if there is any clogging or dried ink, it is confined to the removable ink cartridge, and not on the inkjet head/carriage like on these newer printers. So it's easy to troubleshoot on your own and take apart.

Small, compact, prints great pix. I use Fast Draft for most printing, but General Everyday Printing for photos to save on ink. HP doesn't provide full ink cartridges, and they're inexpensive to refill at Costco. Too bad the printer manufacturers have gone to the larger multi-task printers. This one is great when space is a factor. Bought this one because the one we had died and we didn't like what was being offered by various printer companies. Unfortunately, the only place you can find this model is on Ebay or Craigslist.
The unit itself is not expensive, i bought my used one for less than the price of the ink it within it. i have had very few paper jams but when it does it recovers from them easily. the .34 oz ink tanks are a good deal and they are getting cheaper every day (around $23) Paper feeder works well on regular paper, photo papers, must do them one at a time. Good choice for traveling doc. printer since the paper trays fold up under the top lid, very nice feature. works well with windows xp.
these printers are straightforward and reliable. I bought this printer because I have a pretty fancy LExmark 905 and it is just more trouble than it is worth. You want to print something, in plain black and white, you put an HP 27 cartridge in your 3845 and you're going to be good to go. You can do color too but I haven't done that in years. I even have TWO of these things, one at my second home in another country, and I bring my ink cartridge with me. I don't think I've had a cartridge go bad yet. That's what really burned me up about the Lexmark --- you put in a new five dollar cartridge and it fizzles in a couple days, just goes bad. These HP cartridges may cost like gold, but they work just fine.
