Of all the rejuvenations of forgotten heroes and villains. the reboots and re-writes. The MOTU and MOTUC line had a great and likable foundation as many other lines. From Robert Sweet's original concept, you wonder where such ideas came from. Frank Franzetta, Edgar Rice Burrroughs or JR Tolken? Stinkor helped define the MOTU cannon with memorable gimmick and ironic repurpose. Above all it's a classic character but missing the boyhood charm. A durable figure, meant for display and aesthetic appreciation. This figure shows the cat-like roots of the character while maintaining the unavoidable likeness to Mer-Man. The technology is made practical and the barbarian-super-science of the world is retained very nicely. The shield is well done although I miss the handle and realism of a weapon he holds. The original gimmick of the figure is missed, as this one does not stink. On sculpt alone, I'd give this high marks, as for its' relative and comparable qualities having the original around is significant as this one misses the charm of the 80's version.Read full review
