Streams of Civilization is not only a beautiful hardback student text, but a guide for all ages and homes. The book gives a balanced and objective perspective on world history that any school or home would enjoy and relish having on their shelves. Written by an accomplished archaeologist, cultural anthropologist and highly recognized historians, this book would give any student, teacher or researcher a strong foundation. Book one begins with early world history...."In the Beginning"..and ends with "The Reformation" and "The New World". Each Chapter contains detailed photographs, drawings, maps, and more. Chapters are broken down by the story of people, history building blocks, geography and geology, biology, economics, political sciences, time periods, perspectives and more. As a teacher and researcher I enjoy this series of books and would not be without them. If your questioning whether this book would benefit you in your studies as a student or teacher, go no further. This books has it all. I highly recommend this book for ages from upper elementary through ages 100+!!!!Read full review
I purchased the book about a month ago and I am extremely impressed at the content . It is perfect for children in Jr. High and High School levels studying history and not wanting to be bored. This book has a lot of world history information told almost in a story book form.
A good book, but for a younger age. Probably more on the line of Middle School (or Junior High). It is easy to follow, and there is not a tremendous amount of detail, but enough to keep interest. As with many of these books of this topic, it is difficult to cover all the areas of civilization adequately without getting too detailed and too wordy. Yet, given all in all, a decent book.
Very Accurate
