National Treasure soundtrack by Trevor Rabin opens with the "National Treasure Suite" which captures all of the excitement of the chase between Benjamin Franklin Gates, (played by Nicolas Cage) and his partners, against their ruthless adversaries to discover the secrets of the Illuminati and the Declaration of Independence. It is an "overture" which captures the meter of the chase, but is then followed by track 2, "Ben" which states the main theme of National Treasure, as if with a second "overture" of sorts. I compare this to Hans Zimmer's score for "Gladiator" in which the opening battle sequence has a complete correlation to the opening theme, but is then followed by the main theme for "Gladiator", later on in the film. Track 3, "Finding Charlotte", returns to the chase theme which opens the "National Treasure Suite" in track 1, but there are still more variations of this through this recording. This is usually the case with just about any Jerry Bruckheimer thriller/adventure. What is also interesting is how well Mr. Rabin builds complete orchestral sequences which are so well-balanced and within the shorter selections. Even with a sequence of just 1 minute sounds both "full" and "complete" and is a rewarding listening experience after seeing this movie. It offers both the slow and majestic statements, as well as the "fast and furriest" pulses of each chase sequence in the film. And one can sense a race against time with each upbeat theme in this score, even if they haven't seen the film. When that happens, the composer has accomplished his mission to achieve a musical portrayal of audio-visual imagery which allows the listener to envision a visual perception with just the soundtrack at hand. I would put this recording in the same class as other thrillers or adventure film scores such as: Gladiator, I, Robot, The Day After Tomorrow, Independence Day, and Dark City. Whereas many soundtracks may only offer one selection or "main theme" on the entire CD which the listener can really sink their teeth into, (for example, "Back To The Future" by Alan Silvestri), National Treasure provides all of the "juice" throughout!Read full review

Music was fun and fast paced! Listening to the soundtrack reminded me of scenes from the movie. Other soundtracks by the same composer are great too.
I had listened to it very closely while watching the movie and enjoyed it. That is why I wanted the CD.
