Roy Drusky was a major "mover and shaker" in the Nashville Music scene in the 50's, 60's and 70's. Yet some people don't know much about him. He was the first to recognize Kris Kristofferson's writing talents - Roy recorded Jody and the Kid before anyone else in Nashville would touch his songs! Roy was the person who pitched the song I Fall To Pieces to Patsy Cline, the song went on to be her biggest hit. Roy gave Eddie Rabbitt and Ronnie McDowell their starts in the music business. Roy also wrote many hit songs for Faron Young, Web Pierce and others. Roy was the only country artist to give Elton John/Bernie Taupin a bonafide Country Radio Hit with his cover of Dixie Lilly, taken from Elton's Caribu album. This event inspired Bernie to send more of his material to Roy to look at for a possible repeat! (Roy passed). But what most people consider Roy's real talent was his Super Smooth and Melodic singing voice. When asked as a young singer if he had taken voice lessons Roy replied - Not enough to hurt my singing! Roy was a true leader in what was fast becoming the Nashville Sound. He worked with the biggest names in the music buisiness and toured the world. He performed for Presidents as well. In fact when President Nixon visited the Grand Ole Opry in 1974, Roy was the first artist to sing for the President and his wife Pat. Having said all of that, this CD is the best representation of Roy's singing and writing skills available on CD. Meaning, that there is far better and richer material by Roy, but it is available on vinyl only. If you like your CD's, then this is the best that there is out there! The sound quality is excellent. The song selection is very strong. And, there is even a bio of the artist that is well written. I would give this CD a 9.9 out of 10 rating. It is a quality piece of work that will leave you searching out more Roy Drusky music! Enjoy! Tad 08/08/2007Read full review

Some are Country and some are Pop songs.Roy Drusky wrote or co-wrote at least 4 of the songs. This is a great CD.
