This is a personal account of a person who was captured by the Japanese during WW2, imprisoned in their war camps. She describes in detail what life was like and how she endured. This is what I like about it. Life was rough, very difficult and how can a person endure such tragedy every day? This is the strength of the book which I find so inspiring. I have purchased many of these books and given them as gifts to others. Sandra Miller
I've read this book a few times and it is one of my favorites. I'm always purchasing extra copies to give as gifts. It is hard to imagine anyone enduring what Darlene did and still her faith in God remainded strong. I don't think I'll even look at a banana again without praise God for His great provisions.
