Volume 12 of Mystery Science Theater 3000 offers a nice selection of episodes from both Joel and Mike. Included with the four films are the "Host Segments" from The MST3K Hour syndicated show for "Secret Agent Super Dragon", interviews with Robert Fiveson (Parts: The Clonus Horror) and Don Sullivan (Rebel Set), and the third installment of the MST3K Video Jukebox (songs performed by the crew of The Satellite of Love from various episodes). The "Joel Episodes" are "The Rebel Set", with the short film "Johnny at the Fair", and "Secret Agent Super Dragon". "Parts: The Clonus Horror" and "The Starfighters" feature Mike with the robots (Tom Servo & Crow T. Robot). The fact that the films themselves are difficult to watch is what made MST3K such a hit with fans, and these four movies are no exception. Starfighters, for example, goes to extreme lengths to show you the thrills of jet fighters refueling in mid-air, while Parts: The Clonus Horror shows the dangers of letting Peter Graves run for President. If you're a fan of the show, you've probably already bought this collection, so my review means nothing to you. If you're not a fan, but heard about it and want to see what all the fuss is about, volume 12 is a good place to start. With episodes from seasons 4, 5, 6 & 8, you get a good idea of what the show was like at it's best during its 10-year run on cable tv, and with Joel and Mike being in two movies each, you'll get to add your opinion to the "Joel vs Mike" debate that rages between fans of the show.Read full review
I'm big fan Mystery Science Theater 3000, and I love set here, The The Rebel Set, Secret Agent Super Dragon, Starfighter, and Parts: The Clonus Horror, is a nice to add to my collection of sets. 5 out 5 of fun and star a winner. Just great fun all around.

A pretty good collection. "The Rebel Set" and "Secret Agent Super Dragon" are decent. "The Starfighters" is very good, and "Parts"The Clonus Horror" is great; its one of my favorites. There's some decent bonus features as well, including Video Jukebox (a collection of songs featured on the show), and an interview with Robert Fiveson (director of Clonus Horror).
Volume 12 is yet another great addition to the Mystery Science Theater 3000 Collection. Joel, Mike and the bots are in top form as they do everything from singing Tom's theme to "Secret Agent Super Dragon" to trying to market their own brand of barbeque sauce during an invention exchange. All of the movies featured in these episodes are epically bad, which means they're just hilarious: one of the actors in "The Rebel Set" also starred in "The Giant Gila Monster," from MST3K 10.2, so you know it's going to be pretty lame, and as a resident of Michigan, I can safely say that any movie that involves the town of Fremont is probably pretty awful. ("Secret Agent Super Dragon" is no exception to this rule; of course, this MST3K episode is now one of my favorites). So join the crew of the Satellite of Love for this, another great quartet of episodes; you'll be glad you did.Read full review
In fact, this is probably the worst collection of MST3k that I've seen. The trick to watching the show is that not only do the guys have to be funny, but the movies have to be at least mildly entertaining- here all four movies suck, which really makes for four dull viewing experiences.
