The annual WWE King of the Ring tournament pay per view was always one of the absolute best for the raw competition, the challenges to rise above, and the royalty to attain by being one of a select group to be called, King, of the Ring. This 2001 edition does not sell short at all. The tournament matches between Kurt Angle and Christian, and well as Rhyno and Edge, both prove to be competitive matches make any one of them worthy of the crown. And as if the two tournament matches wasn't enough for Kurt Angle, he locks up with Shane McMahon for a true brawl in a street fight contest. That match certainly stole the show in excess of 20 maybe 30 minutes of sheer brutality, that proved that the millionaire Vince McMahons son, Shane-o-Mac is not a weak trust fund kid. Jeff Hardy and X-Pac show off cruiserweight greatness in their match for the Light Heavyweight title. And Spike gets redemption against his brothers the Dudleys with his mystery partner, a big red monster if you will. And the show is capped off with a classic triple threat match pitting Stone Cold Steve Austin against the late Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho, with rumours that his opponents were going to defect with the title should they win, to WCW. Look out for a surprise visit by a numerous time WCW champion in the match. This pay per view, set the stage for the entire "Invasion" story line. Its part of history, and you should be part of history and watch it today. The only way to improve on the action is get it on DVD, but most VHS's can be great quality so long as they are kept well.Read full review
