This storybook, written by filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan as a story for his kids, is the basis for his film titled Lady in the Water. It tells the story of the narf, a mythical sea nymph that wishes to help mankind. It contains pages with short lines of text and beautiful illustrations that are thought-provoking and mysterious. I enjoyed this story because of its connection to the film. You can either read it before or after you see the movie. It's a prequel to the film. This story acts as a source of hope for young children who still believe in the make-believe world.
May be liked by the parent more than the kid. A spare story that needs to read aloud with care. Lovely illustrations but my daughter wanted to see clearly the characters and not see a picture of where the character just left. Definitely odd.
