Had to install an automatic update to allow the game to resume from pause mode after a saved game load. Please note: this title was reviewed using a Dell XPS Gen 4, P4 HT @ 3.20 GHz, 4 Gig RAM, Dual 160 SATA RAID(0) hard drives and a nVidia GeForce 6800 256mb PCIe video adapter. It is important to read and understand the minimum and recommended system requirements for any PC video game. Systems that are faster than the minimum may provide significantly better performance and improve your gaming experience. Some PC video games list specific video card requirements and will not function without. It is also important to mention (because we sell video games on ebay) that we do not sell titles as NEW once they are opened and installed for testing. Most test games find a home with one of our testors (employees) and in rare circumstances, we will sell clearly marked as opened and used.Read full review
This is not your Uncle Disney's Alice in Wonderland. With music that makes you dare yourself to turn the lights off and truly horrific creatures of a deranged mind, American McGee's Alice does take you to another place, a place where things have gone terribly wrong. So, with that in place, also understand that this is a PC game from 2000. 12 years ago it was well received for its graphics, scenery and eeriness. When compared with its sequel, this game can be very limited only by the technology involved. The gameplay however can be delightful and challenging. It does help to have a healthy (or unhealthy) appreciation for the macabre journey through another person's nightmares.
Didn't give much back-story information about the game, but did have a good first chapter about all of the characters and shed light on a couple of things that in the eight years that I've played and Loved and OBSESSED about the game I didn't know, so that's a great thing. The walkthrough is basic and informative, but the actual book is in all black and white which isn't too great for being able to follow picture instructions, and the pixtures and text seemed somewhat squished together because the pages aren't wide enough, and it can be distracting, but for American McGee's Alice fans, it's definately a Guide that you want in your collection!!!
Fantastic game. I mean it was a bit lackluster in some of the acting and a bit of the emotions fell flat, but overall it's a good game. Sure, I can't really blame the old 3-D graphics but what do you do, that's all they had at the time. So, yes, I recommend playing it to get a feel for back story if you get confused in the sequel "Madness Returns." That's why I played this one first, so that when I get the sequel, I won't be lost or confused on a few plot points if that occurs.

Had this game, I'm guessing 2008, saw it advertised, at a game site online. Loved the graphics, raved about it so much my Son , gave it to me on my Birthday many years ago, I just never finished the game, I lost the CD's 2010, have a copy on all my old Hard Drives, that don't work as well, so I purchased ALICE again. I love the game rhe people who put the game together did a great job. I decided to buy it since the price was sooooo much less then the $50.00 + when it first came out. I won't pay that price for any game, and it's not that I can't afford it. I can find other stuff I'd rather spend $50+ on.
