Very nice game for the time period. Racing and driving well unlocks new cars, each time you choose a vehicle you have a color bar slider option to adjust the color of the vehicle and every shade of the rainbow, unusual option but fun. Each car has different pros and cons and half the fun is figuring out which car gives you the best shot at unlocking the next race and challenge. Overall, I would give it 5 stars if this was 2001.... being 2012, I have to drop a start off.
Ridge Racer 64 is one of the better racing games for the N64. I bought it looking for a cheap yet fun racing game for the console that had all 3D graphics, and it is indeed pretty fun. The game's high speed and the handling on the cars can often make it difficult to keep from crashing, but if you can adjust to the method of drifting used by the game the tracks become fairly simple.
This game is great . If you choose the right car to race with, you can slide sideways around the corners, just like some of the new drifting car games out on the market. I bought this game for my son but he is going to have to fight with Daddy for " play time ". I thought N 64 only had slower race games , I was wrong. This racing game blows the other one I have " out of the Water "....A C B C Rocks
This game was great back in the heyday of the Nintendo 64. Improved a lot on the original one for the Playstation and I have to own every single Ridge Racer game there is so I could not go on without the N64 version still. Only thing I didn't like was that the control stick on the N64 controller was waaaaayyy too sensitive for this type of arcade racer.
this is a great racing game I give it a 10/10 such nostalgia with this game I love the Ridge Racer series it's fast paced racing neck to neck to the finish line is awesome not too much into the racing game genre but this is one to pick up.
