Regardless of what the younger people think, Aerosmith was a huge success in the 70s with songs like Combination, No More No More, and Back In The Saddle. The fact that they then reinvented themselves in the 80s and 90s to become as significant a band as they were decades before is proof they are worthy of respect for the full spectrum of their work. That is why I bought this game and I challenge anyone who says the songs are "too easy" and they played it through on expert without problems. The difficulty of these songs and Joe Perry's guitar brilliance makes this a great buy. I agree that the reduced price is worth the wait but I feel that way about all games. I never buy during the craze faze of $50 prices. I have enjoyed working through these songs and even found a new appreciation for the ones I liked less than others (Draw The Line, No Suprize) with the background info in the interviews. I personally would have liked to see additional interview segements as the difficulty increases. I rate this as one of the best of the Guitar Hero series because I have been a fan since 1975. I agree there could have been more songs from "Pump", Nine Lives, etc., but greats like NO More No More are missing as well. Had they been included, this would be a solid 5/5 in my book. It gets a strong recommendation from me.Read full review
dont get me wrong, this game is fantastic. If you are an aerosmith fan (even just a tiny bit) you will love this game. Im not thrilled with the other bands and tracks on the game but thats ok. In a round about way though, this game is exactly like guitar hero 3 with a new face. the subtleties are phenomenal, including Joe perrys use of a talk box on sweet emotion (you can see the plastic tube coming from the characters mouth). The games overall difficulty seems to stretch a little more than the previous installment which is great for beginners to the game. so yes, the game is totally worth every penny. As for the hardware, i didn't purchase the "aerosmith" les paul but im assuming it is the same as what came with GH3. great axe, but i did have to make some modifications. After awhile the sensitivity doesnt work and my yellow button wouldnt work. i had to open up the neck and move some stuff around (you can find fixes on youtube.com and other places) after that the guitar has worked perfectly. Compared to the rockband original, i love the strum bar. much tighter. Check out the game. The only reason i didnt give it an excellent is because i didnt feel it did enough to change from GH3. There are some excellent segways showing the guys in the band and interviewing them which is awesome, and the venues are decent (nipmuck high is cool, after that it gets a little more average). but check it out, enjoy it, rock hard.Read full review
Good Graphic likenesses for Steven Tyler, Joe Perry and DMC (Darryl McDaniel from Run-DMC). The song list has a lot of deep album cuts. This can be a pro or a con depending on how much of an Aerosmith buff you are. This game seems to have stayed away from many of the groups slower ballads like Cryin and Jaded and gone for mostly up tempo songs. Both versions of Walk this Way (Original and Run-DMC remake) are playable. This game lives and dies on how much Aerosmith you like. I am a only a casual fan and still enjoyed playing. The game is a little easier the GH 3, but only a little. Expect to practice before playing hard and expert with 5 stars. The bundled guitar is a wireless Les Paul with a new faceplate. Probably not necessary for many players, but I needed another guitar and the Les Paul is the best. I give it 4/5 stars overall. No new features of modes, just more songs. If you like GH3 and Aerosmith, you will like this one.Read full review
OK, so the songs are not the best collection of Guitar Hero songs but the added content of seeing interviews with the band during game playing and getting to play the venues they played while becoming the band they are today is fun. Also playing as them is cool however I think I will enjoy playing as Metallica or even Van Halen would be more fun this Aerosmith. HOPEFULLY some day some of my classical favorite bands become available like lets say Led Zepplin or AC/DC or even some Lynard Skynard! Now were talking here. But if you are a fan of Aerosmith and a fan of Guitar Hero then you need to buy this game right now!!
I have played most of the Guitar hero games for Xbox 360 and wanted this one because I like a lot of Aerosmith songs. The disappointing part is that all of the songs are not Aerosmith songs, only some of the other artists songs are any good, and the Aerosmith songs don't include some of their better material. The really great parts are the interviews with the band and the characterizations of the Aerosmith band members are fantastic. The designers should have included more popular Areosmith tunes, more of them, and if they needed to have warmup acts then they should have been better bands and songs as well. All in all not a bad game and is very enjoyable.
