The "Adult Catechism" has been an amazing achievement of approachability and readability, making the "Catechism of the Catholic Church" understandable in today's language. Using thoughtful stories and easily understandable text, the tenets of the Catholic church are explained in terms that lay Catholics (and non-Catholics) can relate to, as opposed to the formal, legal Church language of the standard "Catechism of the Catholic Church". While I recommend that all Catholics have a copy of the main "Catechism of the Catholic Church" for reference, I highly recommend that Catholics read the "United States Catholic Catechism for Adults". Having a firm understanding of the tenets of the faith is invaluable - and often surprising! The questions at the end of each section can be used for personal review and self-discovery or in a group context, such as RCIA.Read full review
I bought this book in connection with my bible study and found this Catholic Catechism for Adults a big help to understand the Bible. Language is simple and much easier to understand. The scriptures that I could not understand before made sense when I read the explanation given in this book. I found myself also being able to explain to others the differences between the Protestant beliefs and Catholic beliefs. It is a very good book and I encourage all denominations to read because they will have a good understanding of the Bible and the Catholic traditions and beliefs.
This book was recommended to me by my RCIA instructor. This is an excellent and simplified, practical application explanation of the CCC. I have found this to be a very helpful study aid for RCIA. As a new-to-the-faith Catholic, I am happy to have found this book! I only wish it came in a leather-bound version, since this is a book that will get a lot of use, and I am not partial to paper back books. This was a good buy, however. I highly recommend this book.
I bought one of these for two of my daughters so they could reflect on life and renew themselves with Jesus. You don’t have to be Catholic to appreciate the value of the teachings in this book.
