I really do not like to read alot but, I loved the book it takes each aspect of my life and breaks it down to help build me up. I have grown closer to the Lord and myself. It really made me evalute and over come past things in my life. I saw alot of myself in the book. I also like how you take several weeks to work on the different areas of life. I had a hard time in my reading the Bible and my prayer life. Since reading the first chapter, "Let God do the heavy lifting" it has improved my relationship with God. The second chapter I am learning to love myself more each day. I have changed my life alot after reading the book and would encourage anyone to buy it and apply it to your life.
What I loved about this book is the how practical it was and just how much sense it made. I now know why I "work best under pressure" and how it contributes to my fluctuating weight and more importantly HOW TO FIX IT!! Joyce is an amazing teacher. She tells it like it is... no sugar coating (no pun intended ;). Their is no disgusting diet foods to eat, no yucky drinks to drink, and more importantly it helps you maintain a steady weight.. a good weight for you and to top it all of she gives you a biblical foundation for all of it. An excellent read for anyone who simply wants to live a healthier, more productive life.
I like this book so far! I enjoy her straight talk about basic priciples we all need to be healthy and balanced, body , mind and spirit. She doesn't pull any punches, this is sheer Joyce. Whenever I sit down to read this book, I always leave refreshed, with some good practical and helpful reminders and guidance of how to live healthily. I just pray that I will apply these priciples and really take my health to heart! She asserts that we need are a precious treasure, a miracle, and that we need to regard what God as made as such. It is really an area of submission to His Lordship and authority. So I need to be intentional about how I live and be respectful of His leading and obedient to Hid voice saying which way I should go!
I love this book! Yes, some of the advice may have been written before, but that's because it's the truth. Middle-aged baby boomers, especially, should buy this book and have it as a staple of their health reference library. What really sets Joyce's book apart is that it incorporates a realistic time frame as well as small, practical & achievable steps that everyone can incorporate into their lifestyle to live a happier & healthier life. This book is well worth the money.
As usual, Joyce Meyer goes right to the answers she has found, starting with the fundamental check of one's attitude. While it will help many women particularly, it is not full of new thinking. Rather, it is merely presented in a new way. It fits with the current Christian genre of self-help with God's help. Joyce's seminars, tapes and books usually go to personal responsibility and are quite practical with spiritual overtones.
