12/04/2008. I purchased this set to get an idea of what awaits us in the USA. I think it portrays, to a great degree, what we in the USA are about to experience. With the alarming rate of terrorism and the increasing accessability to nuclear weapons for those who are bent on destruction with no reguard to the life of others, it is not if but rather when this event will take place. Though this series portrays life void of the truth of a literal return of Christ to this Earth to set up the Kingdom of God, it pictures well how people react who do not believe in that truth. The fact that the Bible prophesies of a time (great tribulation)that is by far worse than any other time in human history makes this series not only a probability of occuring but in fact a simulated portrayal, to a degree, of what life might be like. This is a great show! Before you get lost in reviews, here is a tip, you can now buy season 1 and 2 together , and that might be cheaper for you than buying each season seperately (check right here on ebay). We liked this show from the start, the drama builds, the characters are complex and have excellent interaction. It has a larger statement on Govt and war but a basic statement on human condition under hard times and how that affects relationships. You will LOVE this show! Skeet Ulrich does a great job (in a big departure from his horror flick roles). Everyone at home loves the series! Make sure you get season 2 as well!!!!
We have viewed about 12 episodes so far and the series is very well done and interesting. Too bad it didn't go on longer. People have told me the last few episodes of season 2 were not as good in quality or content, but everyone knew the series had been canceled by that time, so easy to understand why content and acting became less important. I hope it proves to be a great stepping stone for some of the actors involved who where undiscovered at this time.
I rented this and watched the entire series waiting for something to pan out. I know the networks have always assumed their viewers didn’t make it past the ninth grade, and no show can be made interesting without some intertwined love story. I always try to suspend disbelief to some degree when watching any movie or TV show, but the glaring scientific inaccuracies on this show would have even a seven year old yelling “BULL SHIRT” at every commercial break during this show. After multiple nuclear blasts satellites still work, one character is shot in the stomach but lives although little medical faculties are available, a storekeeper who is about 17 commands a group of refugees like a little Napoleon, a salt mine runs without power or refining facilities, and on and on. The most interesting character must be the mayor’s sons. Actually that’s two characters but when referring to anything in this series what difference does it make? The show devotes a good third of its screen time letting you know what’s happening with these guys love life. I was expecting a running version of THREADS or THE DAY AFTER. What I got was a slap in the face from AT&T, who advertises throughout the show by placing their junk here and there. The show was picked up for a second season, it figures, only the good shows get pulled early. The way the networks turn out junk, this thing will be on till 2020.Read full review
Item was as described and works correctly. I enjoyed Jericho when it was first televised and I am satisfied with this set.
