It's not a surprise to overlook this movie. You tend to think that sequels to classic movies are usually quite bad (which in most cases, they are). A girlfriend of mine made this purchase about a month ago and my first reaction was, "are you kidding me?" Once it arrived I opened the package and really looked at the cover not even realizing it was Matthew Maconahay on the cover - even though it says his name up top. I guess I was to taken by the disbelief they would make a sequel in the first place. Nonetheless, my girlfriend came over and we started watching it. I figured this movie would suck horribly from Maconahay being in it, with his "surfer" appearances and out of place accent. Surprisingly, it was the total opposite. The incredibly bad acting was from every other actor and actress, including the Chainsaw Murderer. There was another character who quoted historic figures, which were often amusing. The makeup was something I enjoy looking for in movies - as far as blood, gore, etc - in this movies case, the props were actually pretty good. Renee Zellweger, who's much younger than I've ever personally seen in a movie, looked pretty and reminded me of Thelma from Scooby Doo. There's a scene that I couldn't help but remind and laugh repeatedly that had to do with exiting a window. Regardless of how bad the acting was, Renee and Matthew really were the stars in this movie. The script wasn't the best (nor the title, which you can't help think of Star Trek while reading..), the plot was pretty horrid and the only scenes that were worth watching had to do with flashing, yelling, screaming, leaping off and out of things and pretty much any scene with Maconahay flipping out. In all fairness, if you're a gore fan, you'll probably like this movie. It's more of a rental with friends (or a girlfriend/boyfriend), you'll most likely laugh rather than be scared. I'm really shocked that Maconahay managed to pull off his craziness the way he did. He should be in more movies like this, rather than being in the typical date movies he's regularly in.Read full review
I bought this version as a collector. The distinct differencr between this version and the other one you will find if you look is that this is the rated version, and it is in widescreen. I am an avid widescreen fanatic with a 62" widescreen TV, so normally I would be all about the fact that this is the widescreen version while the other is only full frame. BUT, the full frame version is the original 4:3 print of the film, meaning the widescreen version in this case actually chops the top and bottom of the image, as opposed to the normal 16:9 being chopped to become 4:3. I actually enjoyed watching the other 4:3 version to see more of the image, along with the fact that it was the uncut and unrated version. This print of the film is ok and will always have it's place on my shelf, but when I decide to watch this film again in the future it will be the other printing.Read full review
I decided, against better judgement, after a previous viewing on it,s original release date, to give this Turd another chance, in the event that I had been too harsh in my criticism. Not only did I find that I had been right the first time around, this movie was worse the second time! The script must have been written on the spot as it was being filmed. With the exception of McConaughey, the acting was that of a 1st grade school play, and this incudes Renee Zellweger's performance! I can fully understand Matthew McConaughey wanting this movie expunged from his history, But Zellweger belongs right here with the rest of the lame cast! To put it mildly....This Movie,( If you can call it that ), is an embarrassment to the Franchise, and should be forgotten. For all associated with it, It's now time to get up, wipe your butt , and put this one where it belongs....What's that I hear.....? FLLLUUUUSSSSHHHH!!!!! BYE-BYE "Next Generation"....You Little Doo-Doo Ball, you!!Read full review
The movie was ok, but it's a little on the crazy side for me! It was worth a watch not sure about a repeat. Just not enough horror in the film. Way too much comedy.
