IF YOUR LOOKING FOR GREAT RECIPES
If your looking to learn about the Amish and how they live daily, then this is an excellent book to have. How ever, it you were looking for lots of great recipes like i was, this book leaves you like a bad dinner, empty and starving for more. there are recipes but nothing that you couldn't find in any standard cook book. when i visited the Amish in Lancaster county pennsylvania, the food there was so amazing it was sinful. there were things being served i only dreamed of making. like the Red Velvet Cake, or the pot roast the mashed potatoes even taste like they fell from heaven. and lets not get started on the gravy! the home made ice cream and pecan pie. all these things i took for granted until tasting them made by Amish Hands. If you haven't been there, put it on your must do list it is worth the trip. As for the book, I'm sure there is a much better complete recipe book with a lot more recipes then this one. not at all what i was looking for. very little recipes, very basic.Read full review

The Amish Cookbook by Elizabeth Coblentz, Kevin William
This is a book of history and great food. The Amish have always intrigued me and cooking and baking is a favorite hobby of mine. This book combines history and great recipes that any one can make with what you usually have handy around the house. The stories are so interesting, I could read a whole book of just the history, stories and tales contianed inside the covers. But the recipes are so delicious and simple to make, with ordinary items you have on hand it is a one of my favorite cookbooks. I gave one to my three daughters and also my daughter-in-law and they love it. It is a great price for a great book.

Amish Cookbook by Elizabeth Coblentz
This book is wonderful! Unfortunately the auther passed away very unexpectedly at a book signing. I think this book should be a collectors item. There is a lot of Amish history and stories in this book along with wonderful recipes! This book is a must have for any cookbook collector. I have this book and cherish it. The author is from Berne, Indiana in Adams County, a very strong Amish community.
