Let's get one thing straight, I'm no expert when it comes to the subject of scopes. This is only the third scope I've ever owned. That being said it is hands down the best one I have ever used. Eye relief is amazing, at minimum power it was close to 4 or 5 inches and at maximum power slightly less. The clarity is unreal, at 200 yards I can still see .223 caliber holes in a paper target. Compared to my Leopold vxl 3-9 it is twice the scope at the same price. It doesn't come with any lense covers or fancy stuff like that but to me wasn't a big deal as you're already receiving a great value for your dollar.

I am a deer hunter ,but I also shoot a lot. At 4xto6x it is a good deer hunting scope. The size is the same s a 3x-9x scope and it fits well on my Ruger #1A. The one poor thing is the eye relief moves an inch when the power is changed. But this overcome by the large eye box of the Rapid Target Acquisition feature of the scope. The Acutrac System of two bias springs is a proven feature and better than a single spring. Cost is reasonable for a scope made in the USA. And Leupold has a good record for repairs. Good buy!

Overall nice scope . Pretty well built adjust easy. Would be clear but received the 4-12x40 Matte Accu Range with oil on the objective lense and on the scope. Really hard to clean lense up. I thought Redfield (Leupold) was better than that. Allso you would think they could supply a pair of lense covers. I guess you get what you pay for. Mine was oily when received new out of box.

The best feature of this scope is it's generous 5-inch eye relief. It's clear and bright for the price point and is highly recommended for most applications, although it is better suited for normal distance ranges, due to its reticle adjustment limitations.

Redfield is a durable yet inexpensive scope for the features. I have previously owned these scopes and they have held up well on heavy recoiling rifles. Only downside is the adjustment is more than the specified 1/4 inch per windage or elevation click, in my experience. I like the 4=Plex reticle much more than the Accu-Trac.
