I watched Seasons 1, 2 & 3 in sequence, and enjoyed them very much. In season 3 the writing becomes more light-hearted with a few downright silly episodes (Will the Alligator Take the Stand? and The Vampire of Taratupa), but that's nitpicking. It's still a very entertaining series, just less realistic stories than before. There is still plenty of hilarity in the interplay between Binghampton and Parker. Joe Flynn really played the hell out of Capt Binghampton. I'm not sure he got enough credit for that. Plenty of fun in season 3, just expect the stories to be a little more far-fetched than in Seasons 1 or 2. Each episode was basically written to stand by itself. With the exception of Gavin MacLeod leaving after season 2, you could almost watch season 1, 2 or 3 episodes in any order and not notice. It's a shame that back in the early 60's, the writers could not do more character development, recurring themes, or progressive story lines. If the writers could have added some M*A*S*H-style plots, they would not have run out of material and this excellent comedy series might have run a few more years.Read full review
McHale's navy was a great TV series. It ran for 4 seasons and it shows the antics of McHale's group on how they get away from Captain Biggington. It was the start of a great future for Tim Conway as well.

Our family loves classic TV and this is one of the best! This is Tim Conway at his best. See Gavin McCloud's sea adventures BEFORE he sailed on the Loveboat. Slapstick meets situation comedy and births a hit! From our six year old, to our teenager, to the 'grown-ups, we all love this show and it always delivers a good laugh! Very funny! Just good clean fun! The only problem that I can think of is that the DVD menu is sometimes hard to navigate. Frustrating, but not deadly.
They are so crazy! Had me cracking up! Wish I had all 4 Seasons!!! If you're a McHales Navy fan, you'll love this!
