My grandfather was born in a sod house in North Dakota. This book rang true. This is the second time reading the book. It is still good. I consider it superior pioneer history. I would give it to my mother so she could read about her family's life, but she is too old. The losses the Native Americans were not given as much attention as they deserved. Otherwise I would heartily recommend this book to anyone interested in pioneer life on the Great Plains.
A very we’ll written book about the lives of the women living in the 1800’s. The trials of them living among the Indians at very times being traumatic. I would recommend it if you enjoy reading of the pioneers moving from the East and going West.
