I was skeptical at first, because when "The Biggest Loser" came out, she had a video for Beginners which was way too easy and very boring. I was super excited to see that she stepped it up to cover more advanced fitness levels. She is tough yet motivating. I was definately sore the next day! I have a workout DVD collection for days I can't make it to the gym, and this one was a good choice. If you are intermediate or advanced, go for it...you won't be disappointed. (These moves are also modified for beginners up for the challenge:) I only gave it four stars because I think it could use more cardio.
I was excited to get this bc JM (on TV) comes off intense and hardcore in terms of exercise. I have tried Billy Blanks and Mike Donovanik and love their exercise programs. When I got this, I was disappointed bc I felt like she prowled amongst her exercisers and their form wasn't very proper (boxing, high kicks, side kicks). I appreciate BB's form for correctness, and MD's knowledge in Kinesiology and body mechanics. I read somewhere that JMs is an actress acting like a fitness trainer, and while doing this DVD, I got the same feeling (I may be wrong). I did get a decent workout, but I want to see proper form from the trainer and have it explained as we go. I felt like that was lacking. Sadly, I will not buy another JM DVD, but will buy more MD and BB DVD if I see one that doesn't require equipment.Read full review
This workout will kick your butt! Definitely not for beginners. I think that if you want a strenuous and effective workout, there are much better programs out there(i.e. Body for Life, P90X, and Insanity). The problem with Jillian Michaels' program is that there is nothing even remotely exciting about it. The workout is hard (which isn't a bad thing) but when you add arduously boring to mix, then every time I think about doing this workout, I associated it with torture (which is not a good thing). I would rather lift weights to my own music and go to Zumba classes. Also, in order to get the meal plan online--you have to pay. I just wasn't impressed.
I have several of Jillian's DVDs and this by far is my favorite. I really like the variety of techniques she uses. I saw results after one week and that's a big thing for me because I had hit a plateau and this allowed me to lose more. I do wish she explained the kickboxing a little more but for the most part it's easy to follow. I admit, I don't look forward to doing it but I'm always glad I did!
i bought it to lose my stubborn fat, i work long hours so i can only workout on my days off. so i workout 3 to 4 days , mostly 3, and lost 11 pounds in 3 1/2 weeks i do both workouts, its hard and challenging but its works and each week i find my endurance is better. everyone is asking me what im doing and i tell them jillian. she is the best. she pushes and motivates. i have spent money on gym ,trainers , pills, eqiupment.nothing worked but this. Stick it out and it will work, i can finally can tuck my shirt in my pants. :-)
