I always wanted to read this book ever since I heard about it years ago. I really enjoyed the history of the family and what holds a family together.

I decided to buy this book mainly because of the setting. Based around the 1920's. Schwartz gives you enough detail about each character that you can visual them next to you...She explores the balance between a persons weakness, and strength, as well as good & evil, which we all struggle with daily. The choices we make, and the choices we wish we could take back. Drowning Ruth was full of surprises. Even though you think you know what's coming, you don't. When I wasn't reading this book, I was thinking about it...that's when you know a good book.
This book is told in different time periods in the different characters' voices. It's a story of love lost, found, and finally accepted. It keeps the reader guessing the validity of each character's reality. The writing style keeps the reader guessing at the 'real' story behind their stories. I originally bought this book for something different to read. I liked the description and decided to try it. Now, I will definitely check out more books by Schwarz.
Good book you don't want to put down.

It was a good read. I was interested to know why it was called drowning Ruth as she was still alive through the whole story. You had to read it to the end to get the why. It was certainly a psychological thriller as the book states.
