I love this book. It saved my life. I suffered a TBI on 12-19-03 and we had no doctors who knew about a closed head TBI. I carry this book with me all the itme because it tells me why I act like I do or why I don't understand things.. I have given it to others in my TBI Support Group to help them with their lives after suffering their TBI. Our lives are different from the "normal" people walking around. We are definitely the "walking wounded". Just because we can walk, talk and dress ourselves doent' mean we are like we were before. We are injured and not retarded. We have become sensitive to so many things and the"normal" people will never know what we go through each day just to keep our personalities intact. We are fragile and we need understanding and the love of our families each and every day, each and every hour. Many need financial help and it's not available. Thank you for letting me write this.Read full review
This is an excellent book for family members, friends, and caregivers of anyone who has suffered a brain injury. I have purchased this book for several people, beginning with myself, after my brother incurred a brain injury seven years ago. This guide helps with recognizing and coping with the symptoms and on-going changes present in the loved one who has suffered a brain injury.
When my brother was in a terrible auto accident, with too many broken bones and a head injury, we family members did not know where to start. We discovered this book, and I ended up buying 3 of them for others. It is an excellent book, written by a wonderful, caring doctor, to give one an overview of what's happening, what might be going to happen, and how to cope and help. Excellent reading. A video is also available.
