This movie is a favorite of mine; but it is a little more somber and there are a lot fewer sight gags and jokes. It tells the story of how Charlie Brown, Linus, Marcy, Peppermint Patty, Snoopy, and Woodstock are invited to Europe as part of a student exchange program; where they travel to England and France. There is a bit of a mystery involved; because the boys are invited to stay at a chateau, and are ignored with no explanation. A lot of traveling, school, and special events. There are many subtle references to the former world wars; especially with the music and activities. Near the end, there is a house fire, which adds suspense. (My 3 & 5 yr. old nephews find it thrilling; but their father is a fire fighter, so keep that in mind when deciding what is age appropriate.) Even though the story line and activities are more suited to children older than 8; younger children enjoy it, as well. I would give this a higher rating, but it is not available on DVD; and it is a darker story line than others. It is one of only 4 'movies' from Peanuts, and my personal favorite for the history and depth.Read full review
This is one of the best Charlie Brown movies ever created. It has a really good plot, interesting details and twist, and of course Snoopy is awesome.
