The Mentalist is a TV drama series that follows a California Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team with Patrick Jane, an arrogant, out of the box thinker, who is almost always right. Patrick is a consultant for the CBI, and is an expert on the serial killer Red John. Red John, a man that has yet to be seen, kills people and then leaves a smile painted in the victims blood above the victims body. Patrick insulted Red John over a TV broadcast while Patrick was pretending to be Psyichic. Red John then murdered Patrick's wife and 9 year old daugher. This is the motivation behind the series, as 19 of the 23 episodes have something to do with the word "Red" in thier episode title. The show revolves around the CBI team, specifically Patrick Jane, and how he does unconventional tactics to solve cases in a very conventional world. The sarcasm in the show may be one of the greatest aspects, as every character of the team uses sarcasm heavily. Every team member has a special talent and skill that will help solve cases, but Patrick uses his intellectual genius to gather facts faster than his companions. However, when Patrick is wrong, the scene typically turns hilarious and he is made a fool of. Season 1 DVD has a bloopers on it, which are absolutely hilarious! I watched it on YouTube before I got the DVD, but definitely watch the bloopers. There are also some deleted scenes, some of which definitely should have been deleted, and others, such as in episode 1, where it shows the back of Red John watching the TV review of the case from the first episode. Some of the deleted scens are really cool, and add tremendously to the story of the Season. All in all, a fantastic series, and I strongly reccommend this series to all who like cop shows with lots of humor. You are guaranteed to laugh!!Read full review
I cannot get enough of The Mentalist! I binge watch, and see a new detail each time! It is funny, as well as mysterious! I love the banter between Patrick Jane and Teresa!
