Walt Disney hits a home run in this non-stop, action packed adventure about a woman with mischevious children, and a husband fighting a war, which takes him away from his beloved children, and wife. The plot thickens with children of a Military family, who must send thier son & daughter to stay at a farm, where sibling rivalry is soon replaced by the help of Emma Thompson(Nanny McPhee), and her magical cane. As is so aptly delivered in one line by Emma, " When you do not want me, but need me, I will stay, but when you do not need me, but want me, I must go. Truly, a loving tale of bonded friendship, and doing for others, with only his or her well-being in mind.
I am certainly in the minority with my rating but nonetheless, it is indeed my opinion. I fell asleep on this one and realized it had a different director. There were very few appearances by Nanny McPhee to my dismay. It was over dramatic in a few scenes, particularly when the kitchen appliances and cabinets start suggesting (talking and flapping respectively) that the client need Nanny McPhee. Nanny's appearance on the scene was not subtle as in the first and I guess this critique is based largely on the first, which I truly enjoyed and why I purchased this edition. I am an adult and I suppose children will find this delightful but it's not one that I can sit and watch with my children in excitement as the first. Just before I watched this one, I watched the first to build up my excitement which probably was a mistake because then I saw too much inconsistencies with the second one. I plan to put this edition up for sale on eBay.Read full review
Just not the same feel or dynamics as the original. It was ok. I am glad they finally tied it back to the first movie in the end, but otherwise it was nothing special. Some of the scenes were funny, but too far fetched in my opinion.

This was such an entertaining sequel. My grandchildren really enjoyed it. Nanny McPhee just keeps getting better and better. I loved the ties to the original in the end and speaking of ending - it was so heartwarming. If you liked Nanny McPhee you will love her return!

I bought this DVD, because I have the original.- I did, however, not think, that it would be near as good, as the first. Even though the 'surprise' of her transformation was no longer there, I was tickled to find the movie very entertaining. The addition of M. Gyllenhaal to Ms. Thompson's talent was well placed and Maggie Smith, as always, is delightful in her role, with a surprise up her sleeve in the last frame. Overall, good, clean family fun.Definitely recommend.
