I am giving this (Season 8-Final Season) a 4/5 because my wife liked it as much as the first 1-7 seasons, however I thought it was a bit "lower" from what one expects & received from the first 7 seasons. Season 7 already "ended" the series, however it was apparently picked up for another season of syndication after the series' "first end". This "Final Season" (Season 8) was done alright, however there was so many changes & additions & things that happened, that it felt like 2 or 3 seasons of events was just rushed thru & shoved into one last season. We really enjoyed the entire series, but the pace of this last season was indeed quite different from the rest, & there were a few other things a bit out of sync also. That doesn't translate as a bad thing by itself however, just different! A love interest is thrown in very quickly, with no real show of character/power, nor real depth of character to make us like him (other than picking out some cute guy to play a part & imply attraction by Phoebe) in which after all the other guys, is suddenly her "true love". Again, everything is rushed. Everything. NOTE: A small plot spoiler may exist: Toward the end, a few characters seemed suddenly "out of character", & others who were rather "on the ball", who in time had learned who to trust & how to use their powers as well as their brains, suddenly became naive, lost all powers of reason & judgment (that they had shown previously). Characters who were suffering post-traumatic-stress-disorder & who hadn't been around long enough to know what was going on in the world, were suddenly taking charge (which those watching may have understood why), but what didn't make ANY sense at all was why they were given charge/totally trusted & followed by those who SHOULD have known better! We are jerked around with the appearance & disappearance of Leo, shoved thru a quickie relationship & wedding, & battle with super demons who we never even knew of, until needed to make a new story. While I may be picking out all the bad, I will finish by agreeing with my wife, in that the last episode or 2, (while thrown at us in a "cliff notes" version of what should have encompassed at least twice the time) the story-line was indeed dealt with in a very detailed way & ended quite well in my opinion. The bottom line for me was that the "Final Season" did finish pretty decent in spite of what it took to get there. It is too bad that the season wasn't given the attention & time that the first seasons were afforded. It might have rewarded viewers with another great season they had been used to. Aside from some story-line & "character" manipulations, along with rushing to introduce new characters & situations without the needed storyline support, the Final Season was indeed "more of Charmed". But like adding more icing of a different color to an already frosted cake, I don't know for sure that Season 8 added anything to the previous series end (presented in Season 7) other than "more & different". We almost didn't bother to buy the Final(8) because of other reviews we had read, but we're glad we did. I am not sure now if it was better or worse that we did however! Season 7 ended the series quite well as it was. Season 8 however made a real mess of itself, yet the last episode or two was masterfully done to wrap it all up, which is this seasons' only real saving grace. Indeed it alone was "Charming"! Enjoy!?Read full review
The three Halliwell sisters discover that they are descendents of a line of female witches. Each has a special ability (stopping time, moving objects, seeing the future), and they can also combine their abilities into the "Power of Three" to fight demons, warlocks, and other evils. I love this show. Where else can you get drama, comedy, and action all rolled into one? Charmed will be fondly remembered for it's exceptional cast, often exciting story lines, and 'magic' it possessed, at it's peak. Setting the record as the longest-running female lead dramatic series, it's place in television history is secure.
