As a small boy in Australia I remember Stars and Stripes winning the Cup back for the US in 1987. Australia's reign as American's Cup champions only lasted a single series, but we were still the first to break the 132 year hold that the New York Yacht Club had on the Cup. I wanted to buy a book about Australia's winning of the Cup. This book is the story of the 1983 America's Cup. The year that Australia II, with her revolutionary winged-keel, bested Dennis Conner and his yacht Liberty over 7 races. This book gives a very fair, and well researched description of the series; from the challengers, the defenders, keelgate, and the epic America's Cup races themselves. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn more about the 1983 America's Cup (even if you're not a sailing expert!).
