I don't recommend Ana Caban for extreme beginners, or even for beginners at any level actually. She's very advanced and even her "beginner" videos aren't well-explained, she doesn't walk you through every step and breath like Suzanne Deason does. It's very easy to lose your way with Ana. She even states that the breathing is extremely important but then doesn't proceed to follow through on advising. This video in particular is ok for an advanced beginner but I'd really not recommend Ana's videos to anyone under an intermediate level. She seems to take for granted that everyone is already familiar with the basics and that we are already physically fit to some degree. If you are a beginner who does not want to become easily discouraged by the moves, skip Ana's tapes. Buy Suzanne Deason's Pilates Conditioning instead!Read full review
I love the combination of traditional pilates mat work and cardio pilates. Most pilates DVD's are all floor work. She has a very calm, friendly teaching style in a pretty, outdoor setting. This is a DVD that you can do over and over again. The mat work is first, which also helps get you warmed up and stretched for the cardio section. Her cardio routine is easy to follow and learn and great for a small exercise space. This routine is also good for all fitness levels.
I bought Cardio pilates dvd 2004 andI really like the instructor, she very easy to follow and its a great work out. and would rate from 1 to 10 a 81/2.Thats good rate for me I've been doing pilates about 2 years now, Bought because I love the results pilates does for me.
I love the traditional pilates approach in the beginning especially since those particular exercises were at an intermediate level. I didn't like the cardio segment which I thought would be worked in with more pilates influence and between traditional pilates exercises. The cardio portion which is done toward the end i guess about 20 minutes consists mainly of lunges with a dance influence and walking in place which I was not very enthused about- I was disappointed in this dvd and will probably to continue to stick with the Crunch Pilates video
Being a Pilate's beginner, but veteran in home fitness, I wanted a pilate's routine that would strengthen my core and give me the heavy cardio I love without having to spend an hour on each. This wasn't it. Good Pilate's, but the cardio wasn't worth the time. My pulse didn't get over 70bpm even when I incorporated a step and light weights.
