I have collected watches for a long time. Over the years I have bought, and used, watches of all types. Quartz, windup, automatics, wrist, and pocket. Some watches I purchase as an investment tool. Some I wear to only to ever use. These Vostok Amphibian watches are incredible. I have found them to be more accurate than some watches that cost many times the price. I have a $350 Maratac SR-1 that I don't wear because it gains over a minute a day. My Vostok watches may have to be adjusted a month or two from now. I purchased this latest watch as a investment piece, though I may use it someday. As an avid outdoorsman, and a technician on equipment, I am hard on the watches I wear. The Amphibian I currently wear for work everyday has been worn for the last seven years. I am hard on a watch. My Vostoks get beat around, banged against trees and slammed into equipment, they get dropped into tubs of water and rivers. My Vostok Amphibian, being shock and water proof has never missed a beat. After seven years I recently took it in for a maintenance. The watch shop cleaned and oiled it, and polished the acrylic lens. Its back in service. Being an outdooorsman I like that I can get bezels with the cardinal points of a compass. I like to only take what I need into the woods. With my watch I don't need a compass. I use my watch as a compass. You would think that a tough Russian watch would be horribly heavy. Its not a light weight. The weight is on par with an old Timex Expedition I have that also has a metal link band. If you want a very durable, extremely accurate, stylish, shock and water proof, automatic or wind up watch to wear, buy a Vostok. You cannot beat the price. They are awesome watches.Read full review

A watch from the cold war. Vostok was, and remains, the official supplier of timepieces to the Russian armed forces. This example is an early version of the divers watch that they still produce. It is a rugged and reliable military watch. Well with it.
