Tom Brokaw "The Greatest Generation" brought together the stories of the "American" public to tell what their life was like during a time when life was lean and hard for the low and middle class man in "America". From the depression to the war years, money wasn't easy for common man to earn. A lot of men were not working from being laid off. Young men were drafted into the "Army" also. But the people tightened their belts and made do. People planted gardens, hunted for wild animals to help feed their families. The younger generation doesn't know today what depression and hard times and the war years were like. A very good book that everyone should read.
