I decided to buy this book because I love the story of Peter Pan by Sir James Barrie. I was excited to read another book about Peter Pan, as I have read all the other books about the legendary Pan. I must admit I was a little disappointed with some of the storyline. Peter Pan in this book is not as endearing and likeable. He is very mean and uncaring towards the other characters. I did enjoy how Wendy, Tootles, and the other lost boys returned to Neverland after they had grown up. I was a little shocked with the transgender reference as Tootles puts on his daughter's clothes to become a child again, and ends up turning into a girl; after which "she" is used to describe tootles when he speaks or acts. The story is short and vivid in it's descriptions. You can tell that the author of Peter Pan in Scarlet has a wonderful and beautiful imagination and tried very hard to write like she was Sir James Barrie. However, vivid the descriptions may be I was unsatified with the attempt on duplicating the classic and much prefer the other novels; like Peter Pan and the Starcatchers and Peter Pan and the shadow thieves.Read full review
Just started reading this beautifully illustrated book. So far to has a wonderful text and feels like Mr. Barrie wrote it himself.

This is a really great author, we had read some of her other stuff and enjoyed it. We like Peter Pan, so I got this for a birthday present for my daughter turning 12. She read it in about one day, she loved it, and would not stop talking about it. I've read about a third of it, it really is a lot like Barrie.
I bought this for my daughter. She had read it previously and liked it enough to ask for it for her birthday. She loves 'Peter Pan' and found this to be a very enjoyable book.
