I like the homey, spiritual emphasis this author has portrayed in her writings. The books are a great blessing to my reading in the mornings; when it is dark and cold outside, they bring warmth to my soul. The author is able to portray the families in this series so realistically that the reader becomes one with them as she reads of their trials and blessings. It must be a wonderful place to live and work in that community. We all need this encouragement in this old world of ours!!! I have purchased three sets of the Cape Light series, one for each of my three daughters. I do hope they, and my one granddaughter will enjoy knowing them as I do. And I will reread them again and again. I am 83 years "young". Thank you for having them on e-bay.
My husband started giving me these books for Christmas because they are such great Christmas stories. I looked back through my books and realized he had missed this one. I read this book in 4 days. I would have gotten finished with it sooner but I had a one year old that would not go to sleep. I really enjoy these books. At first I thought there were too many characters in the books but now I can recognize names. Vera really made me laugh because I could almost see her with her dust buster. I wished I had more of Vera in me with a one year old running around. I feel exhausted just looking at my house. I loved this happy ending so many people in Leigh's situation are not so lucky. I love the Christian undertone. I made it up in my mind to read only books that had good values and morals. I am glad to find such books so readily available. I love EBAY.Read full review
When my grandmother gave me this book, I was a little leery of reading it - unsure of whether or not it was going to be able to hold my attention. Man, did I ever mis-read this one - it was great. You'll laugh and you'll cry along with the characters. Thomas Kinkade and Katherine Spencer have proved a real talent for writing and drawing readers into their story. I would definitely recommend this book to all ages!!
This is #6 in The Cape Light series by Thomas Kincaid and Katherine Spenser. This cozy little village is set on the Eastern Seabord of Massachuttes, a dreamlike hamlet, where everyone knows each other and helps each other, in the way God intended us to live our lives day-by-day. I think that somewhere, someway there is someone searching for a Cape Light. I would call this a modern day Brigadoon, and I wish it would appear out of the mist and whisk me away to live in Cape Light.
Christmas time is the best time to read a somewhat sappy, predictable book like this. It sort of puts you in the Christmas spirit. What I really like about Katherine Spencer and Thomas Kinkade is that their books are CLEAN, free from bad language and sex. Characters lean on their faith to face difficult times.
