These are some of my very favorite writers and I have read many of there works. Vienna Prelude is the first book of this series. It share the high quality wordsmanship and wonderful historical background as all of the Thoene works. The pace is excellent as always but the story line and character development is just OK. The negatives I would site is it is a little "sappy". Somewhat like the Zion Covenant series (though not quite as bad), they seem to be bordering on "chick flick" status with slight over emphasis on the romantic aspect of the storyline. They always make the heroine seem slightly unreal. After they have broken three or four hearts of the poor suckers who are all madly in love with them they say "oh well" and go off into some incredible scene of intrigue and melodrama. I think the masculine side of the Brock and Brodie team is not asserting himself, and their work is suffering from it.Read full review
Vienna Prelude was my first introduction to the writings of Brock and Bodie Thoene. If you like history and also are a Christian, then you must begin readng the Thoene's novels. This is the first novel in this series which is set during the WWII era. It follow the life of a young lady concert violinist with the Vienna Orchestra named Elisa Lindheim. Also, if you are a classical music lover, then it is a plus - but anyone can enjoy this book. I highly recommend that you visit the Thoene's web site to find out about the order to read their books. Currently I have read just aboout all their books up to the A.D. Chronicles, which I am just beginning. This is a great book in my opinion, but if you atart with this one, be prepared to continue reading with the others because it is a must!
Bodie and Brock Thoene are my favorite historical fiction writers, and the Zion Covenant is my favorite series. Vienna Prelude is the first in a series of novels set in Europe during the time of Hitler. Although there are many characters, they are believable and easy to keep straight. I couldn't wait to start the next book - Prague Counterpoint. Although the books in the series can stand alone, I highly recommend reading them in order.
They’re all the kinds of books you can’t put down.

I left positive feedback already. I do not like your request to double down and ask for it again. Once is enough!
