I bought this for my daughter's 5th grade for black history month and also for myself as I love history. This was very interesting showin how he was raised as a young black boy on a plantation and then having to work at a young age. The owner of the plantation didn't want him to have education like his children but his wife taught him to read also. Later when he fell in love with a free slave a group got together to pay for his freedom. Two sketched photos of woman slave beaten topless so we didn't show to the class unless we skip the first 5 minutes and she explains what happens until that point.
So well done! Thanks!

A&E does it again, envelopping its audience in a pleasant educational experience. Frederick Douglass is well represented through the seamlessly blended interviews, dramatic renditions, and photographs of the documentary. Passed the stay-awake-and-learn test with flying colors!
great historical information. Can show this to my children, grand children, nieces, nephews, the whole family.
I have enjoyed watching the Frederick Douglass biography! It was most informative, and provided information I hadn't known before. Thank you so much!
