have not had chance to use yet, but myself being older and not in the best physical shape, wanted light duty but effective unit that could use for practice, and if need be, getting food. good idea for preppers to have bows. bullets have limited supply, but if near any trees, can make own bows. also, is light enough for woman or youth to pull. does show a little rust on wheels, but still functional. won't weigh you down much if carrying lots of stuff. wouldn't wan't to try to go against bear or cougar with, but be good for small game or target practice. prepers need to remember to keep things as simple as possible as supplies may become difficult to get. a compound is much easier to pull than a long bow, since the wheels act as pulleys and absorb some of the tension. overall a good light duty, lower cost choice for getting family involved, or small game. would be somewhat useful for defense also. seller sent right away, not having to wait for anything from overseas. we have a camper, and have seen cougar tracks in campsite before. a bow gives u a little distance between u and potentially dangerous opponent, whereas a knife doesn't give that advantage. again, think versatility when prepping or starting family on a past-time that could be good family activities. could certainly use to chase raider rodents out of a garden also.Read full review
I purchased this bow for my daughter as a 13th birthday present. This is a 58" 40 lb. wooden recurve that is reinforced with fiberglass. This bow is similar to the black bear I owned as a child, which provided a good starter and practice unit with which a teenager can increase their skills. This particular unit is a Red Panda of mid to late 1960's vintage, but in clean and straight condition and having no cracks.
It's an excellent vintage Bow, a piece of History that works fine
