I like the book because it gives lots of hints on how to form italic letters correctly and there are plenty of practice pages. Also, I like it compared to the other italics written by women authors because the italics have a definite "maleness" to them, while the italics written by women authors have a "femaleness" to them. Since I'm a guy, it suits me better writing like a guy. Y'know what I mean? So, for all you guys out there who want to write italics like a guy, then buy this book.
This staple-bound version appears to be a better buy than the newer version when found reasonably priced online. The quality of the printing inside is better in this version, according to reviewers. The content and instructional method is excellent in both.

It is a very good instruction manual for learning calligraphy. It is quite old (from the early 1970s) but very informative.
