After my daughter borrowed a few of the other Diary of a Wimpy Kid books from the local library, she wanted to borrow this book as well. She didn't know at the time that it was an interactive book. When she did get the book she wanted to purchase one for herself that she could write in. The book has many activites for my daughter to do. She can write her own stories, thoughts, and plans for the future. She has alot of "quiet" fun. She can add her own pictures inside of the book to make it all her own. There are comic strips inside where she could write in what she wants the characters to say. In the beginning of the book there are the interactive activities that they have printed in the book just waiting for your child to complete. In the middle of the book there are a few pages of colorfull comics for the children to read. And from the middle to the end of the book are the lined pages waiting for your childs story. I rate the book a 4 out of 5. If you find that my review is helpfull, please rate it. Thanks :)Read full review
Books are doors to new worlds. My great niece and I were messing around on the computer and I was teaching her about Half.com. She was enthralled, being 8 that was not easy. We looked through children's books and came across this book. She just had to have it. Diary I think was what caught her attention. Children love to talk and write about themselves so this was ideal. When she received it she immediately started to fill in the blanks. It was so insightful because she was more than willing to share it with her family. She brought it out during New Years eve to share and talk about what she had written. I highly recommend this type of book. It has made her think about situations etc in everyday life. It is a great tool to open discussions about almost every subject.
Great book, encourages reading and writing. My seven year old took it from the mail and went right to work! He carries it everywhere, inputing something here and there. Who said electronic reading systems are all that-this book is all that in his eyes! I love the creativity end also, each book is unique to how the child personalizes it. My 11 year old has one also, he has added pages to it. Wow!
This series is a wonderful addition to your childs book collection. Diary of a Wimpy kids is a collection of little stick people cartoon stories that every child at the 4 and 5th grade level can relate to. The entire series is adorable in the fact that my daughter reads them and giggles aloud and reads me the parts that she finds amusing. Diary of a wimpy kid Do it yourself which is another book in the series is a fill in the blank book that your child can voice their thoughts, opinons and secrets. There is also a diary space in the back with about 50 pages for them to keep a daily account of their events. I stumpled upon these books when my daughter had forgotten her money for the bookfair at school. I had to go and pay for her items but the clerk was with someone so I was looking around to wait and just picked one of these books up without even really looking at it. I purchased it along with the things she had already picked out and this book was her absolute favorite book by far. Now we have all of them. They are entertaining for the kids boys or girls. As I said I purchased the first one at the school bookfair so they are very popular although I had never heard of them. Most kids ages 8 to 11 have heard of them or knows some who is reading them. If you are thinking of purchasing these books go ahead they are a good time and a silly read for the kids and a great way for them to enjoy reading and relax.Read full review
I've got the book for my son. He is 10 years old, and He likes very much the Diary of a Wimpy Kid collection. The book is meant for a kid who wants to have its own diary. He was not very convinced at the begining, but afer a couple of days He begun to write short sentences. I think it is a good and much more enriching activity than playing with video games.
