Excellent book on the basics of health. After reading it myself I am using it for home school health curriculum for my high school aged daughter. With the workbook it is a 50 day walk through establishing or renewing a commitment to healthy living. From drinking water to getting enough rest (and how much is enough of each)Dr. Colbert gives practical guidelines. His program can get you on track, and it is easy enough to permanently maintain all the components. The only drawback to the study for my daughter has been that the workbook is primarily geared to adults past age 35 (although it doesn't say that) who already notice that they aren't as fit and energetic as they once were. There is still enough content to make it worthwhile for her as buildling blocks to prevention of health problems later in life. I not only would recommend this book to a friend I already have and will continue to do so.Read full review
This book is truly a blueprint for a healthier life! The information is easy to understand and makes so much sense. We truly are killing ourselves by our lifestyle and what we put into our bodies. My husband and I began incorporating these suggestions or "pillars" into our lives and, even though we haven't mastered all seven yet, we are seeing and feeling a difference! We saw this book and its author on the 700 Club on TV and ordered it. If you are looking for a way to live a healthier life without doing anything wierd, this is the book you need! It tells you just what to do and why and doesn't require anything strange or hard to come by. We love what it is doing for us!
I have enjoyed reading this book. One of the biggest reasons I like this Dr. is that he has many, many years of practical, hands-on experience in his clinic with real patients. He isn't just writing from the knowledge he learned from school or a book. He has proven the validity of what he teaches. He really cares. I also like how he mixes in Biblical principles with his proven information. To me it doesn't get much better than that!
Although I have read a number of books about natural health, this book far exceeds them all. This book simplifies the most important things you can do for good health. It is the most no-nonsense health book you could probably ever read. Everything is completely do-able and it helps you make changes incrementally. Because good health has been broken down into seven simple categories, it is easy to remember them, therefore making it easier to make healthy lifestyle choices on a daily basis.
I am interested in alternative ways of health. The western medicines 99 out of 100 is solely money and profits. The 1% care about the HUMAN person and not how much money they make from treating the person. Or really the number. Most western doctors do not know a person's name or care about them being uncomfortable because they are just another 'body' to do something with. The person signs away their rights to fight is this doctor experiments on them and oversites on the 'professional' causes the patients death..Oh well, they did not know them in the first place, they won't be at the funeral, BUT they will collect the monies and go on a nice vacation. So purchase books that give me ideas on how to treat myself and LIVE!
