I have been using Ambassadeurs for decades. They are a lot of bang for the buck and properly maintained, last forever. I have owned and used Curado's, Takota's, Penn's... even real saltwater round bait casters like Accurate's. For the money, 4600, 5500 & 6500 C3's are hard to beat. I'll bet their specialty reels are great, I am just no longer coastal or inshore fishing.

I like the new 5500c3. I wish the 5600c4 came with the lower gears as an option. I know 5600c4 can be converted to the lower ratio, but why not just have the option to buy it that way? Back in the day Abu Garcia actually made a 5600c3. Not too much to ask. While I much prefer the push button of the 5600, the button on the c3 series is ok. I have already added ceramic bearings from boca bearings and a good reel is made even better. I have the reel on a Cabela's Heavy rod and it seems to be a good fit. My plan is use it in both fresh and salt water with 3/4 - 2 oz jigs and surface plugs. Nice balance. I really like the combo.
