I am a high school freshmen English teacher and I teach mythology and the Odyssey as a part of the curriculum. This spring, a student brought in her copy of this book to show me. I loved it! It tells each chapter of the stories in a one page, full color, story board comic book style. The humor is there along with the pertinent details. This is so much better than Cliff's Notes! Students have a quick and easy reference to any part of Homer's epics. I plan to use this book to give brief overviews of the stories before tackling the full versions, and to help students who have missed class or need extra help with comprehension. ELL (English Language Learners) can get a quick idea of the story before reading the full version, which aids comprehension. This is also a nice way to introduce the stories to younger readers. I'd recommend this book as an introduction to Homer, and to enhance learning. If you already know the stories well, you will STILL love the book. The pictures are humorous and the speech bubbles make these classic tales timeless.Read full review
