Overall I enjoyed this book. It had a lot of repetitive writing in it, repeating things that had already been written again and again. Storyline was interesting and different. I purchased a book titled 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die recently and that is why I purchased The Book of Illusions because it was in there. Anyone reading this who enjoys reading should pick up a copy of 1001 Books, it is a massive compilation of many writers and scholars picks of the top 1001 books from as far back as the pre-1700s through the 20th century.
When I first read a Paul Auster book I didn't know what to think of it. It was interesting but strange. That led me to read another Auster and then another and now I am thoroughly a Paul Auster fan. "The New York Follies" is touted as his best book but after reading 'The Book Of Illusions" I have to take exception. I think this one is his best.
