It's no secret that there's been tension between the Van Halen brothers and Diamond Dave since the beginning. They've had public words and said that it wouldn't happen but here it is. And quite simply, it rocks. Eddy still shreds, Alex has the beats that don't quit. The biggest relief to VH die-hards is that David Lee Roth is still a terminal wise ass who more than not, reaches the notes and busts everybody's balls, in a good way. The set list is every fan's dream. Can't think of anything that's missing here. Some might argue that Dave's solo hits should have been represented but then it wouldn't be VH and might bring back even more hard feelings back stage. There's a drum solo that might not seem to fit. That's the only real weirdness here other than Dave's surprising fluency in Japanese (he has dual citizenship now!) This is the only official VH Live release with Mr Roth and for that reason alone, any real VH fan should throw down and add this to their collection. Read full review
