JAPANESE ANTIQUE 19TH CENT MEIJI PERIOD SIGNED OX BONE OKIMONO, STUNNING! This sale is for an amazing Japanese antique signed okimono carved from a single piece of fine quality antique ox bone, the subject is wonderful it shows a mythical Japanese god with one foot standing on a carp, the carp has a magical swirl coming out of its mouth which intwines over and above the Japanese gods head creating a beautiful little Japanese lady, there seems to be so much going on with this stunning okimono, Please look at all the photos very closely to see the fine details and superb carvings to this great magical piece,size 18cm high, condition good, but there are some tiny splits which have been restored and s a tinypiece missing to the swirl next to and above the mans head, Please see last photo. All in all this great okimono hasbeen carved to a very high standard and shows a superb raresubject. this fine piece also has a very nice red square seal on the base with the artist signature inside the seal.
