Old Fort Huachuca Az, Buffalo Soldier Unit 10th Cavalry Military Token Rare R10:
You are offerding on a BEAUTIFUL AND EXTREMELY RARE (R-10, HIGHEST RARITY IN ARIZONA TOKEN CATALOG)old UNITED STATES MILITARY USED "good for" style trade token which actually was "GOOD FOR 5 IN TRADE" by "X (means 10th TENTH CAVALRY" (documented AFRICAN-AMERICAN, BUFFALO SOLDIER UNIT), which was located at oldFORT HUACHUCA, ARIZONA or ARIZONA TERRITORY.
This is a terrific and rare US MILITARY token, from old iconic southern arizona Fort Huachua. The site of Fort Huachuca goes back to 1877 Arizona Territorial era. Site of the fort is located in historic Cochise County (home of OK Corral gunfight, Wyatt Earp, Doc Holliday, the Cochise stronghold, Geronimo...tons of history) and not far from towns of Bisbee, Tombstone, Pearce, Warren, Douglas, and Sierra Vista.
At first glance...you look and just see "X" on this token...and you might say "big deal, an X token"...BUT, this "X" stands for "10th Cavalry"...which was documented as an AFRICAN AMERICAN "BUFFALO SOLDIER" unit. This is a RARE token. Believe this token is likely A.T. (Arizona Territorial era).
This token is listed under the town of FORT HUACHUCA in the Arizona token book (Spooner) as catalog #FTH-950, and this is rated as R-10, highest rarity in this book, which translates to "1-2 KNOWN" in this catalog, and books for $100 (if you could find one). This is a rare and historic token. With tokens this RARE...it is tough to price them....because they are so hard to find (no comps). (can you imagine what a coin would sell for if 1-2 known??)
This is a beautiful "strong details" old token..These old genuine US military tokens are rare today, let alone 10th Cavalry, Fort Huachuca tokens.
Trade token is brass, round, about 21mm in diameter, and it displays very nicely.(please see pictures in gallery) Token has not been cleaned in any way. Has strong details, minor staining.
Gallery pictures should give you all the information you need.
Beautiful old "good for" token, once used at the at the "X (means 10th Cavalry)" documented Buffalo Soldier unit, stationed many years ago at historic Fort Huachuca, Arizona or Arizona Territory.
A very low reserve (below book value) for a token of this rarity.
Thanks so much for looking....collect and invest inhistory!!!!! Tangible assets are always the best ones.
