Pair Quezal Fluted Art Glass Irridescent Shade Brass Sconce Steuben Tiffany Era For Sale
i have for sale without reserve this very elegant pair of quezal shades on matching brass sconces. i will start with the brass sconces. they measure 8 and 1/2 inches tall and project out 5 inches. the back plate is 6 inches tall with a width of 4 and 1/4. they are not signed but of quality for sure and period 1915-1925 and both with original sockets and pull chains. the sockets pulling smoothly. the patina also original with some as to be expected scuffing and minor scratches. both sconces without any sort of metal damage or fatique and ready to be hung immediately upon unpacking. the shades properly signed quezal at the top rim and measuring 5 inches tall and 4 and 3/4 inches wide at the bottom. the shades without cracks or chips or even a fleabite to be found. a little bit of an air bubble or something in the manufacturing process of one but i would think it to be of very minor consequence. very nice iridescence in the glass and simply a great period pair of wall sconces in fantastic original condition. please check out my other lighting sales as i have plenty of good stuff up for sale now. thanks for looking.buyers
please remember that i am selling antiques and that thereshould bea
degree of expectationon your part inknowing that there will be normal
aging and minor imperfections towards an item that is 75 to 100 years
old. chances are if there arent any, its a newer item and
youshouldntwant it anyways. in other words, a minor blemish on some
metalwork belonging to a large shade or a 1/16 by 1/16 of a paint flake
missing, please try and be reasonable. i really dont want to do a refund
because the finial ( typically a 10.00 piece ) isnt perfect on a
2,000.00 lamp. i always describe the important aspects towards condition
reports and sometimes my eye misses what i deem immaterial issues such
as the aforementioned sentence. it seems the more experienced an antique
dealeror buyeris, the more understanding of condition they are. that
being said, if you think your going to be a difficult buyer because you
want perfection in a 100 year old piece, please purchase another
sellers product. has made itvery difficult for sellers in the past
few years yet im a good seller who wants to be fair and all i ask for
is a fair buyer to do business with. thanks for your understanding.

There
are a few things in life we can’t do without. Food, water, fire,
oxygen, the sun, shelter etc. So when it comes to shelter and necessary
light for it, that’s where I come in. I believe in living simply and
within my means butsurrounded by items of great quality. I would rather
own a great reverse painted lamp or Stickley bookcase than drive a
foreign car that will only depreciate in value and cost me good money
for repairs and maintenance. Or pay $40,000 in property taxes a year on a
7,000 square foot home that I only use 2500 sq. ft.of and the wasteful
utilities that go along with that.
So
why is it people go out and spend say $500.00 bucks on a pair of lamps
that in ten years will be in a rummage sale with the hopes of getting
$15.00 for the pair. Why not spend $1,000 on a lamp and have something
meaningful, and when you tire of it ten years later, sell it, and get
your money back in its entirety or even make a profit on top of the
investment. Not to mention you got the same usage for that entire time
period? This makes infinitely more financial sense than the other
choice, plus you have a conversation piece in the room and something to
be proud of. Also you have more cultural feeling invested in something
100 years old knowing that it can never be duplicated by modern making
techniques and knowing there a few, if any, like it left for this world
and now it’s yours. You own it. You display it and care for it. It
becomes part of you so to speak versus a throw away item that was
purchased at Raymour and Flanigan, Sears, Macy’s or Walmart.
So
again that’s where I come in. lighting. Great period lighting when
electricity was still in its infancy. When makers like Bradley and
Hubbard, Handel, Tiffany studios, Pairpoint,and others cared about
quality, appearance, and function. When makers were trying to outdo one
another with this new business boom of electriclighting. When we went
from whale and kerosene oil lamps and gas,to electric. This is when the
best lamps in the world were manufactured and the ones I want to light
my home with when its dark. I can’t control the sun or the amount of
light it provides or when it comes up or goes down, and whether it’s
cloudy or not, but I can control the light in my home when its dark. and
like I said earlier, I want nice rugs, paintings, pottery, furniture,
etc. and I want to see those itemslit by great lighting. It’s what
makes a home more outstanding and livable because without it you see
absolutely nothing. A quality lamp makes or breaks a room. You can have
the best rugs, furniture, paintings, and accessories in the world, but
without great lamps or lighting nobody will ever see it. Buy quality and
you will never regret it.
