A rare and large early bowl by Gwyn Hanssen Pigott c1960s
Gwyn Hanssen Pigott is one of the most important Australian Ceramic Artists. She trained along side Bernard Leach & Cardew. Her work can be seen in the Tate Collection & the V & A
stoneware with ash glaze - olive with grey/blue
14 x 27 cm (5 1/2" x 10 1/2 "/)
potters mark to foot - this is obscured by the glaze but visible in one of the images
Condition : has had a tiny area of professional restoration to the rim - this was to repair a tiny chip
provenance: private collection Wiltshire, purchased from Primavera, Cambridge in the 1960s
